General Guidelines • Conduct yourself responsibly • Follow instructions carefully • Never work alone • Do not touch anything until instructed to • No food, drink or gum in lab • Unauthorized experiments are prohibited • Come prepared to lab • Observe good housekeeping practices • Keep aisles clear • Know what to do during a fire drill • Handle sharp objects carefully

General Guidelines, cont’d • Know location and operation of safety equipment • Always work in a well-ventilated area • Be alert and cautious at all times • Dispose of chemical waste properly • Read labels carefully • Keep hands away from face, eyes, mouth and body while using chemicals/specimens • Stay at your own lab station • Stay out of storage room
