A Week in the Life of a GHS Cheerleader… • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday– Practice from 3:30-5:30, unless there is a game • Thursdays, morning practice from 6:15-7:45 • JV games are usually in the afternoons, Varsity games are usually in the evenings • We arrive at games early to hang signs and warm-up

  6. Attendance • It’s expected that cheerleaders will be at all practices and games unless they have a conflicting school activity, are too ill to attend, or have a family emergency or tragedy. • If a cheerleader must miss something, we need a written note or email from the cheerleader’s parent • If a cheerleader knows she/he is going to miss something, please give the coaches as much notice as possible • Even excused absences will need to be “conditioned off” with Coach Evans

  7. Discipline Policy • Absences, tardies, uniform violations, and attitude issues will be primarily dealt with through conditioning. Every few weeks practice will let out early to allow cheerleaders to work off their violations • If problems persist, action will be taken by the coaches, including, but not limited to, being bench or being removed from the team

  8. Lettering Requirements • To letter in cheerleading an athlete must • Be on Varsity or be a floater who cheers at least 5 Varsity games • Be able to fill 2 positions in an extension stunt • Be in good standing with attitude and attendance

  9. Handbook Highlights • Athletes must pass all their classes the previous semester to be eligible for sports • Must attend school that day to practice or cheer • Immediate dismissal for: • Drinking • Drugs • Stealing • a

Cheer Handbook Highlights • Uniforms • Cheerleaders must be in the correct uniform or appropriate practice wear • No jewelry or gum • No artificial nails, real nails must be kept short • Please wear an appropriate bra • Failure to adhere to any of the expectations/rules will result in additional conditioning, game suspension or dismissal • Please check the website and handouts and ask friends and captains before calling the coaches for basic scheduling questions
