Bringing in the non-index species, do you think that your MBI rating is an accurate assessment? Why or why not? • What factors have the greatest effect on the macroinvertebrate life in that pond? List at least 3. • Macroinvertebrates are considered by most limnologists to be a more accurate indicator of water quality than vertebrates. Why do you think this might be? • How might the pond’s water quality be improved? • If it was improved, list 5 macroinvertebrates that may then be found in future benthic surveys. • What would you do to improve the accuracy of this lab?
