Action Item Review • 65th IHC Action Items • 29 New Action Items • 18 items closed (17 by incorporating changes into NHOP) • Airspace use during tropical cyclone missions • BIG THANKSto CAPT Harris Halverson (NOAA AOC), Mr. John Mineo (FAA), Lt Col Dave Borsi and others in updating Chapter 5 of NHOP!!! • Additional FAA updates (Ch 2, Appendices I, L, M, N) • Plan of the Day coordination • Aircraft radar fixes • Updates of breakpoints • Storm name pronunciations • Formatting of header information in NHC text products • Backup CARCAH procedures • TC dropwindsonde data • Run new version of ASPEN 3.0 so high-res operationally processed data are output • Make new D-files and high-res data available to HRD for archive

  4. 65th IHC Actions Items (continued) 3 items to be worked (OPEN) Aircraft support for development of in-situ ocean data base, and possible eventual operational requirement, for initializing/ validating Navy and NOAA air-sea coupled models At the WG/HWSOR meeting, EMC joined on this request 53rd WRS to provide initial response by 15 Jun 11 if and when they can begin supporting the request on a not-to-interfere basis Considerations include the need for a new launch tube, loadmaster availability, and discussions with HHQ EMC to report on AXBT input by Nov 11 annual HFIP meeting and/or Dec 11 NOAA hurricane conference Revise wording for overall TC MAX WIND location in VORTEX message Due to needed software changes required by 53rd WRS, NOAA AOC will coordinate with NHC for finalized wording by April 30, 2011 Expanded use of discrete Mission Identifiers for non-tasked research flights NOAA AOC to coordinate with NHC to finalize format; NWS issue service change request; will include in 2011 NHOP Action Item Review

Old Action Items Proposed change of eastern boundary from 55oW to 52.5oW AFRC to elevate for high-level decision; AFRC will support for 2011 hurricane season, resources permitting (OPEN) Change in organizational name from TPC/NHC to NHC Will be closed once 2011 NHOP is published (CLOSED) Update of MOA(OPEN) NOAA / NWS previous coordination DOD staffed through Joint Staff to USTRANSCOM USTRANSCOM working with AFRC to staff to signatory element Caribbean Hurricane Awareness Tour (CHAT) (CLOSED) NHC, NOAA AOC, and 403 OG / 53rd WRS agreed to work CHAT and HAT options on a case-by-case basis AXBT requirement (CLOSED) WG/HWSOR attendees agreed to CLOSE this item; related item introduced as 65th IHC Action Item #2 Action Item Review
