  2. Family, Career and Community Leaders of America 2008-2009Who Are We?

  3. Let’s explore just what “it” is. . . FCCLA has catchy sayings that encourage all who are enrolled in FCS classes to take advantage of all FCCLA has to offer them.

  4. Let’s start by looking at some basics aboutFCCLA. Since 1945, FCCLA members have been making a difference in their families, careers and communities by addressing important personal, work and societal issues through family and consumer sciences.

  5. F = Family C = Career C = Community L = Leaders A = America Just what do the letters FCCLA stand for?

  6. Today over 220,000 members in nearly 7,000 chapters are active in a network of associations in 50 states as well as in the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. Did You Know? FCCLA has involved more than ten million youth since its founding in 1945.

  7. FCCLA projects focus on a variety of youth concerns, including teen pregnancy, parenting, family relationships, teen violence substance abuse, peer pressure, environment, nutrition and fitness, and career exploration.

  8. A student’s involvement in FCCLA offers the opportunity to expand his/her leadership potential and develop skills for life-- those skills necessary in the home and workplace. Planning, goal setting, problem solving, decision making, interpersonal communication Did You Know - FCCLA is the only student organization in schools with the family as its main focus?

  11. Our official colors are Red and White.

  12. The FCCLA logo shows that FCCLA is a dynamic, active organization bound for the future. It features collegiate lettering focusing on education and student leadership. The color red--the color of the rose--is used as a sign of strength. Our Logo

  13. The logo contains a swooping arrow arch to signify we are an active organization that moves toward new arenas. Our Logo

  14. Part of the Logo is a Tagline that reads: The Ultimate Leadership Experience Tagline

  15. Don’t confuse the Tagline which never changes with the THEMEwhich changes every year. Ohio’s theme this year is: FCCLA: Hear the Rhythm of Opportunities; Feel the Beat of Leadership.

  16. To show more about who we are and why we are members of FCCLA, let’s look at our Opening Ceremony. Opening Ceremony President: We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Our mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education. Officers: Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and vocational preparation. Members: As we work towards the accomplishments of our goals, we learn cooperation, take responsibility, develop leadership, and give service. President: The ________ meeting of the ________ FCCLA chapter is now in session.

  17. The Opening Ceremony begins an FCCLA meeting. First to speak is our president who says: We are the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America. Our mission is to promote personal growth and leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.

  18. Continuing the Opening Ceremony, all the officers say: Focusing on the multiple roles of family member, wage earner, and community leader, members develop skills for life through character development, creative and critical thinking, interpersonal communication, practical knowledge, and vocational preparation.

  19. Finally, all the members respond with the following: As we work towards the accomplishments of our goals, we learn cooperation, take responsibility, develop leadership, and give service.

For we have the clear consciousness of seeking old and precious values. For we are the builders of homes . . . . . Our Creed

  22. Creed Continued Homes for America's future, Homes where living will be the expression of everything that is good and fair, Homes where truth and love and security and faith will be realities, not dreams.
