IDs – TechID and StarID • TechID (also known as StudentID or CollegeID) is a unique number assigned to a student and is unique to each MinnState institution • If you attend(ed) more than one MinnState college/university, the Tech ID will be different for each college/university • Tech IDs are used to: • Authenticate student records • Confirm StarID password change/resets

StarID – Identity and Access Management • StarID is a unique number that stays with a student, regardless of MinnState school enrollment • If you attend(ed) more than one MinnState school, the StarID will remain the same • Username that replaces many login IDs with one ID, one password, everywhere • Combination of letters and numbers • ab1234cd • StarIDs are assigned once a student is accepted to a MinnState institution

StarID – Identity and Access Management • Remember to “Activate your StarID” • You will not be able to use your StarID until activated, even when it is assigned to you • How do I find/activate my StarID? • https://starID.minnstate.edu Note: The StarID is assigned by the first MinnState institution you are admitted to. The number will follow you regardless of the MinnState institution you attend.

Using StarID & Password • What else can I access using my StarID? • Log into any student-provided Windows & Mac-based computers • Free and discounted software for students (On the Hub) • http://www.anokatech.edu/TechnologyServices/SoftwareDownloads.aspx • Faculty may use yourStarID as a username to access other online resources. Please check with your faculty.

ATC Email – To Forward or Not to Forward…That is the Question Advantages of Forwarding Disadvantages of Forwarding To forward your ARCC/ATC email to a personal account, follow the steps provided by your personal email provider. Single mailbox to check Email can remain on student school account Do not have to remember school email address Cannot access school address book to email instructors, students and employees Some faculty will not accept or respond to non-school email messages Personal email account may not have security measures in place to detect and prevent phishing, vishing or other malicious intentions Personal email support is not available

  10. D2L Brightspace • What is D2L? • A learning management system (LMS) that faculty use for posting coursework, blogs, discussions, etc. • How to access: • https://anokatech.learn.minnstate.edu/ • Use your StarID and password to access • Email your faculty from D2L

ATC Computer Labs • Open Computer Labs: • Room 180 | 79 Windows workstations, 2 Kiosks, 1 collaboration space, 4 printers • Room 156 | 24 Mac computers, 1 printer • Fall/Spring: Hours of Operation • Monday – Thursday 7:00 AM – 10:00 PM • Friday 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM • Saturday/Sunday – Closed • Summer: Hours of Operation • Monday – Thursday 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM • Friday 7:30 AM – 11:00 AM • Saturday/Sunday – Closed

Alertus – Emergency Mass Notification System • The Alertus Emergency Mass Notification System is used to send messages to your mobile devices (cell phones) • Available on iOS and Android systems • Follow prompts • Enter the Organization Code: atcarcc • Enter your school email account • Choose Subscription: ATC Campus • Confirm your subscription
