  2. MISSION: Our mission is to protect wild birds and their habitats in Colombia through research, conservation action and community engagement. • 21 prívate reserves covering 65,000 hectares: • 1,350 of the country’s more than 1,800 bird species occur • 65% of Colombia’s threatened bird species

  11. POLICY ACTIONS • National government endorsement (challenge because government official changed offices) • Environmental Ministry decree recognizes global priorities, such as IBAs, Ramsar, and AZE (2010) • Approached congressional working group on animals

  13. FUTURE ACTIONS • Expand AZE membership • Expandsiteprotection • Identify sites for othertaxa (ex fishes, plants, etc) • Includebussinesses as AZE members and supporters
