EmotionsAnger • Anger is the number one emotion felt by many children of divorce. • This is potentially harmful to health of children • Can cause many other side effects, ex. Behavioral problems. • Anger in many children of divorce last for many years
Fear • Many children of divorce experience fear at some point. • Many fear the unknown, that they are responsible for everything. • Some have the fear of never seeing one of their parents again.
Sadness • At some point most children of divorce experience sadness to some varying degree. • Many are sad because of the separating of their parents. • They also feel sad because there is nothing they can do to fix it.
Psychological Well-Being • The Psychological well-being is the state of mind the child is in. • Divorce, causes many symptoms of poor states of mind in children of divorce. • These symptoms are, depression, anxiety, and lower-self esteem.
Adjustment • Many children of divorce struggle with adjusting to the life of divorce. • Many children become attached to both their parents and divorce splits that. • This can cause many children to struggle with relationships later in life. • The struggle of living in two homes potentially is hard for many children to cope with.
Poor Academics • Many children of divorce struggle with academics. • Many of these reasons are due to the many harmful effects of divorce. • It has been statistically proven that children of divorce of all ages have poorer academics in school, than do those of married homes.
SolutionTherapy • Therapy is potential solution for many children of divorce. • Therapy offers a place of safety, to allow the children to express their concerns. • Therapy also helps many children improve relationships with their parents, along with improving their lifestyles after words.
Conclusion • Divorce affects many children in potentially harming ways, ex emotions, and poorer academics. • However, with Therapy most of these challenges of divorce can be overcome. • There still needs to be more research though, on therapy and improving academics in children of divorce.
