God Hates Divorce! • “I hate divorce,” Malachi 2:16. • God is very strict with divorce and remarriage rules, Matthew 19:9, Mark 10:11-12, Luke 16:18.
God’s Strict Rules About Divorce • No remarriage unless you divorced your spouse for adultery, Matthew 19:9. • The victim of an unscriptural divorce may not remarry, Matthew 5:31-32.
Divorce • “So what do you expect me to do? Stay in this miserable relationship with someone I don’t love, who doesn’t love me?”
How To Avoid The Low Of Divorce: • Don’t expect your spouse to “make you happy,” and don’t feel obligated to “make them happy.” • That’s God’s job, Matthew 5:3ff. • Marriage must not become an idol, 1 John 5:21. • Marriage is not a feel-good drug.
