  3. Types of Mobile Devices • I-Touch/ I-Phone • Tablet PC • PDA • PSP • Mobile Phone

  4. I-Touch / I-Phone • Multi-touch screen device • Capable of being a great internet client & Portable Media Player • Packed with many applications • Great use for media and technology fans

  5. Advantages • Touch screen input technology • Automatic rotation of screen display • Wireless network system • Handful of widgets • Best media player in the market

  6. Disadvantages • No blue tooth access in earlier editions • No Java or flash support • Limited Storage device • No FM radio • No replaceable battery

  7. Tablet PC • A mini touch-screen compact operating system • Convertible & Slate • Great use for students & office workers

  8. Advantages/Disadvantage Advantages: • Doesn’t require keyboard or mouse • Use of digital ink • Occupational uses • Easy Portability • Flexible format usage • Disadvantages: • High Cost • Input speed • Screen damage risk

  9. PDA (Personal Digital Assistant) • Hand-held computer • Functions as mobile phone, web browser & media player • Used for organizer, GPS, “wireless-waitress” system , etc. • Mainly for business use

  10. Advantages • Synchronization from PC to PDA • Educational uses (digital note taking) • Sporting uses (pre-flight planning) • Can store spreadsheets & maps • GPS system

  11. Disadvantages • Constant recharge • Easily broken if dropped • Scratched screen

  12. PSP (PlayStation Portable) • Hand-held game device with Universal Media Disc • 1st Launched in 2004 • 51.6 million PSP sold (as of March 31, 2009) • Best for gamers

  13. Advantages • Wireless multi playing • X-cross Media Bar • Web Browser • Remote Play • VOIP access (Skype) • Expensive • Expensive to fix if broken

  14. Mobile Phones • Wireless communication device • Countless number of brands • Nokia, LG, Samsung • Suitable for every age

  15. Advantages • Provide voice communication, SMS & MMS • 3G call • Boredom eliminator • Easy to carry around • Useful functions (camera, calendar, alarm clocks etc.)

  16. Disadvantages • Radiation is bad to the human brain (cancer) • Causes accidents • Takes away personal life • Burdens you financially • Disturbs work & studies

  17. Limitations within developing countries • No 3G or Video calling • No GPS • Slow Internet • No E-money system • No phone charger station

  18. The Future of Mobile Devices Positive: • 4G • Watch live TV • Universal remote control • PTT (Push to Talk) • Longer Battery Life • Negative: • Detonate bombs • Disguise as weapons • Cost more $$$
