  7. Discovering Elements • STT#1 • 1. Greek philosophers were right that fire, earth, air, and water weren’t basic building blocks of matter. • 2. Greek philosophers were wrong because they thought fire, air, water, and earth made everything.

Mendeleev built on other scientists work by taking the 63 elements and creating a table to make into families of elements. • 2. other scientists built on Mendeleevs work by following his table and created the official Periodic table of elements.

Circle or highlight the elements in the food and write the symbol for the elements. Extra Credit Due by Thursday 11/29/12 • Find out how many elements were added to the periodic table and write the symbol, element name, and mass of each element. Name of resource • - memorize at least 15 elements and know the symbols Be able to orally present them to me.
