  2. Aaron Siskind Siskind uses a short depth of field to show the layers of peeling paint The black and white shows contrast between the paint and the wall underneath it. I like how simple and abstract the textures in his compositions become when photographed straight on. His photographs bring significance to things that may appear run down and neglected.

  9. Artist Statement • My theme is close up textures. I chose this theme so small, overlooked details could be noticed. • By shooting with a small depth of field, I am able to highlight the texture on the wall. I shot from different angles to get varied perspectives of the peeling paint. I also cropped my last picture to create better composition. • When people view my photographs, I hope that they notice the interesting textures that can be found in areas or things that may have been abandoned or forgotten.
