  3. Goals • Parents and students will leave with a clear understanding of the Close Up program and their roles leading up to the trip.

  4. Schedule and Logistics • Hotels: Close Up arranges all hotel accommodations at major hotel chains like Marriot, Hilton, Holiday Inn, and CrownePlaza. All hotels are metro-accessible and within minutes of downtown D.C. • Room selection and requests sign up sheet.

  5. Schedule and Logistics • Meals: All meals are covered in the Close Up tuition starting with dinner on Sunday. Breakfast is always a buffet at the hotel and we utilize food courts, Smithsonian Cafes, restaurants, and the hotel for lunches and dinners. Vegetarian options are available at every meal.

  6. Schedule and Logistics • Transportation: Close Up takes care of all in-town transportation. Close Up uses luxury motor coach buses during the week. For more information on the D.C.’s Metro system, please visit www.wmata.com

  7. Schedule and Logistics • Supervision: Students on our Washington program are supervised 24-7 by trained staff. Night monitors are at the hotel from 9:00 p.m. – 6:30 a.m. They make sure students are in their rooms at room check and stay on each student floor throughout the night. Students spend the day with Program instructors who have received extensive training in experiential education and Close Up methodology.

  8. Schedule and Logistics • Supervision: All Close Up staff, comprised of both male and female instructors, has been professionally trained to respond to quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency. All staff has mastered evacuation procedures an routes from all Close Up activity locations. All staff members undergo thorough background checks, are trained in CPR, AED and First Aid.

  9. Schedule and Logistics • Medical: Every hotel has an assigned health tech and through a partnership with Georgetown University Children’s Medical Center students have a24-7 specialized access to the city’s best medical care. • Schedule of events: See the brochure (available online).

  10. Cost • Tuition: $1767.00 • Deposit: $300.00 due by 12/31/12 • Registration: Turn in the sign up sheet information and I will enroll each student. Each student will have an ID# and password. You will complete the enrollment form online. • Payments: Once enrolled, you can make payments online (unless using tax credits). • Financial aid: Fill out the form online. You must pay the $300.00 deposit first.
