In the first part, a mix of invited talks from experts and hands-on exercise with simulation software will familiarize the participants with the topic. The second part will focus on actual application examples and more advanced simulation problems addressed by the simulation platform axisuite®. The character of the workshop will be interactive and there will be a dedicated session for exchange of experiences and ideas. VECOM The aim of the EU FP7 Marie Curie Initial Training Network “VECOM” (Grant Agreement 213543) is to provide dedicated research training in the emerging field of vehicle concept modeling for up-front pre-CAD functional performance engineering, bridging between industry and academia across Europe. The research area is of highly strategic importance to European automotive OEMs, who must launch products on an ever shorter time frame, at increased quality of multiple performance attributes. Novel methods will be developed to address the industrial need for a novel engineering process in which analysis leads the design. Applications will be worked out across partners and application fields, fully embedded in the vehicle industry context. For further information visit www.vecom.org. LAT The Laboratory of Applied Thermodynamics (LAT) was founded in 1974 and belongs to the Department of Mechanical Engineering of Aristotle University Thessaloniki. The educational and research activities of LAT cover the following areas: • Applied Thermodynamics and Combustion • Internal Combustion Engines and Pollution Control • Inventorying and Emission Projection Tools • Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Policy INSTRUCTORS, SPEAKERS Grigorios Koltsakis (Aristotle University Thessaloniki) Prof. Enrico Tronconi (Politecnico Milano) Dr Said Zidat (Bosal Emission Control Systems) Dr BobanMaletic (MTU Friedrichshafen) Theodoros Atmakidis (Exothermia SA) AXISUITE axisuite®is a state-of-the-art tool for exhaust systems simulation, originally developed at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Lab of Applied Thermodynamics (LAT/AUTh). The software incorporates the results of more than 20 year-long research experience of LAT/AUTh. Since 2007 the software development and support is handled by the University spin-off company Exothermia SA. Exhaust after-treatment modeling workshop 11/06/2012 Berlin, Germany
