What does AEIS stand for? • Academic Excellence Indicator System • This is the accountability system used, by the state of Texas, to judge how schools are performing. • This is different from No Child Left Behind or Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP), although they all look at the same measures: TAKS scores (standardized measure – state assessment)

How did we do on the TAKS? • TAKS scores look at two things: • Passing Rate - Met Standard • Scholars scoring about 90% - Commended Performance
How do we receive our ranking? • TAKS breaks down the whole campus numbers and also looks at each subpopulation. • We have a subpopulation if we have at least 30 scholars identified across all 3 tested grade levels. • In order to receive an Exemplary rating, all subpopulations must score above 90% met standard • A Recognized rating indicates that all subpopulations scored between 75% and 89% • An Academically Acceptable rating indicates that all subpopulations scored between a 60% and 74%
