  4. “Switch” to drive change in habits and improve transparent and secure transactions in the nautical industry (berths, REFIT, marine freight, charter, boat-listings) as an OPEN standard • Marinas are the HUB of these transactions • The right drivers and partners: Experts’ Committee, YachtWorld, Travelport,… • It all starts with a STANDARD coding such as with airports

A change in habits… Nowadays: • Low penetration of IT in “traditional” procedures • Main cultural barriers: language & time zone • Difficulties to get relevant nautical statistics … with Unimarina: • The NAUTICAL” IATA” as a project by and for the nautical industry,… main opinion leaders on board • Easy, fast and secure e-transactions as it is now widely spread for air travel & air cargo

The GDS (Global Distribution System): • It all started when the President of American Airlines sat next to an IBM executive on a flight in 1953 • An unique STANDARD to support all business connections and transactions • A HUB where clients and suppliers can develop their relationships and determine business rules • Helps BOOST business in the sectors in which is implemented (clear example in air travel)
