    2. Protective hairstyles Protective styles are a must when one has natural hair. It protects your hair from the elements, I.e., the sun, rain, snow, etc. It also protects your hair from snagging/breaking when rubbed against clothing, linen, etc. In the following slides I’ve compiled a few pictures depicting various protective styles. Although these styles protect your hair. It is important that you maintain your styles in the following way: Firstly, Do not braid/twist hair too tight as this will cause stress on the hairline and will result in breaking and thinning! Moisturize ( I use African Royale BRX braid and Extension spray) Wash your hair regularly. This will help keep your scalp clean and reduce build- up you may have from using products on your braids, twists, etc. Tie your hair up every night with a satin scarf and/or sleep on a satin pillowcase. This will keep your hair-style as well as protect against breakage. To learn how to do any of the styles in the following slides, visit www.youtube.com and search for “how to . . . “Tutorials.
