MUSTANGS Meadowthorpe students, friends and family members are invited to come out and dance to raise money and show support for 2nd grader Sonny Cohen. There will be LOTS to do: arts and crafts, basketball, four square, food and of course, DANCING! As a popular DanceBlue saying goes, “When cancer is cured we will dance for joy. Until then we dance for life.” The reason we are doing this is to support Sonny, who has been diagnosed with a rare bone cancer and is undergoing treatment at the Pediatric Hematology Oncology Clinic at UK Hospital. 80% of the proceeds go directly to pay for Sonny’s medical expenses; the rest will go to DanceBlue, which supports this clinic that helps kids with cancer. Please consider joining me and the other 2nd graders as we help the people that do so much for sick kids! DanceBlue is a year-long fundraising effort involving thousands of UK students, which culminates in a 24-hour no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon on UK's campus. All of the money raised by DanceBlue goes to the Golden Matrix Fund. Since 2006, DanceBlue has raised over $3.5 million dollars for the UK Pediatric Oncology Clinic and Markey Cancer Center. Every year, over 120 campus organizations and 700 dancers help raise money to support all the DanceBlue families.
