Welcome to 3rd Grade Mrs. Mehaffey • While you wait… • Login in to ParentVue (if you haven’t already) to access and complete Beginning of the Year documents • Download the Class Link App (LCPS Go) • Fill in dismissal (regular and emergency) forms • Read over the information about Class Dojo (I will explain further) • Scan QR Code to fill out 3rd Grade Survey • Scan QR Code to sign up for a conference

The 7 Habits of Happy Kids “Mrs. Mehaffey, I don’t have time for something new.” • Don’t worry this is not something else • “Keep doing what you are already doing, just do it through a new leadership lens (p. 153).” • Take small steps • Read a bedtime story with leadership principles • Have a meal together – let children’s ideas be heard • Have children teach you or siblings through music, art, skits, etc. • Use the language as positive affirmation (Not, “You’re not being proactive.” Instead, “I was so impressed with how you were proactive when you were…”) • Long-term, think about family goals and a mission statement- take children’s input seriously

Grades • 4 point scale • 4- Exceeding the standard • 3-Meeting the standard • 2-Making progress toward the standard • 1- Making little to no progress toward the standard • Letter Grades • A= Outstanding • B = Very Good • C = Satisfactory • D = Needs Improvement • F = Not Performing **Access grades online through Parent Vue or Student Vue on LCPS App (ClassLink App) **Report Cards are online only!

  11. Homework • Read every night at least 20 minutes • Word Study • Math (as needed) • Should not exceed 30-40 minutes Optional… • Extra reading time • Dreambox – please do not assist students with this app

  14. Reminders • Sign planners daily • Review Friday Reflection Log and sign • No birthday treats • Read and acknowledge forms through Virtual First Day Folder (see previous email I sent out and let me know if you did not receive it). • Complete forms as soon as possible
