The 7 Habits of Happy Kids “Mrs. Mehaffey, I don’t have time for something new.” • Don’t worry this is not something else • “Keep doing what you are already doing, just do it through a new leadership lens (p. 153).” • Take small steps • Read a bedtime story with leadership principles • Have a meal together – let children’s ideas be heard • Have children teach you or siblings through music, art, skits, etc. • Use the language as positive affirmation (Not, “You’re not being proactive.” Instead, “I was so impressed with how you were proactive when you were…”) • Long-term, think about family goals and a mission statement- take children’s input seriously

Homework • Read every night at least 20 minutes • Word Study • Math (as needed) • Should not exceed 30-40 minutes Optional… • Extra reading time • Dreambox – please do not assist students with this app
