  1. Wind & Geothermal By: Abraham Burgos

  2. Wind energy How is wind energy converted into a usable form of energy ? With turbine it makes energy when the turbine goes around The wind is used as energy for sail Boats and back around 4,000 years ago the Babylonians and Chinese used it for pumping water for irrigating their crops.

  3. Geothermal Energy How is Geothermal energy converted into a usable form of energy? It is formed by hot rocks underground heat water to produce steam People drill large holes down to the hot regions the hot steam comes up and is purified and is used to drive turbines.

  4. Wind Energy • What is wind energy used for? • Wind energy is used for powering sail Boats it was also used back about 4,ooo years ago by the Babylonians and the Chinese for pumping water for their crops.

  5. Geothermal Energy What is Geothermal Energy used for? Geothermal energy is used for Hot springs and for warming up houses and buildings. They also use a turbogenerator to bring the steam up to the factories.

  6. Wind energy • What are the benefits for wind energy? • The benefits of wind energy are that wind is free and wind farms don’t use any fuel. It doesn’t produce any waist or greenhouse gases. Its also a good way of supplying energy to remote areas.

  7. Geothermal Energy • What are the benefits for geothermal energy? • The benefits of geothermal energy are no fuel is needed, the power station doesn’t take up that much space so it doesn’t really affect the environment as much.

  8. Wind Energy • What are Wind energies draw backs? • Sometimes the land they try to buy is expensive. The wind doesn’t always have any wind, it can also affect television reception and it can also kill birds but its rare that it will kill birds that are migrating.

  9. Geothermal Energy • What are Geothermals draw backs? • One big problem is that their isn’t many places where you can build geothermal power stations. You certain type of hot rocks at a certain depth where they can drill down to them. • Sometimes a geothermal site will run out of steam and sometimes for 10 years and even more sometimes (1 decade or more.)

  10. Wind Energy • What are government plans for full implementation/conversion of wind energy? • They haven’t entirely decide on how to use them as a full energy source. The reason is because they take a lot of space and need the wind to pick up so they may create energy.

  11. Geothermal energy • What are government plans for full Geothermal energy implementation/conversion? • Using Geothermal energy is a better resource because it doesn’t cause global warming because it is steam from the earth and is not polluting its own air. Their plans for Geothermal energy are that they want to put 8O% of it in America but their isn’t that many places where there is a lot of steam.

  12. Wind Energy • Why is wind energynot our number one source of energy currently? • The reason Wind energy is not our number one resource is because it take s a lot of space up and the wind energy pieces cost a lot of money to build.

  13. Geothermal Energy • Why is Geothermal energy not our number one source of energy currently? • The reason Geothermal energy isn’t our number one energy resource is because their isn’t a lot of places where they can produce a lot of steam and it is only found in certain places.

  14. Wind energy • What does wind energy release into the environment and how does this affect the environment? • Wind Energy still releases oxygen back into the air but it can still be used again unlike fossil fuels.

  15. Geothermal Energy • What does Geothermal energy release into the environment and how does this affect the environment ? • It releases H2O back into the air right after it been used and can still be used.
