  4. New website • ‘JobJump ‘ will be available soon – you will be notified when. • You can register for this free service – information emailed directly to you. Parents can register too. • Weekly regionalised TAFE courses and job vacancies; earnings across 300 careers; bonus points across all universities in NSW and their links; EAS information; alternative entry etc.

  5. Guest speakers • Guest speaker program will include talks after school early term 3. • Expected speakers include: • UOW Early admission • Bluescope Steel • Defence Force • TAFE • Private Colleges • Etc. Registered students MUST attend

  6. Different pathways to where you want to go • TAFE • UOW College • Work experience • Delayed application –eg- Police, FireBrigade, Defence Force etc • GAP year – work – volunteer – travel - lifestyle

  7. Assistance in other areas • Resumes • Interview Folders • Interview preparation • Cadetship/ apprenticeship applications • Mock Interviews

  8. Careers Interviews • Every Year 12 student will be interviewed at least once this year. • Informal interviews Recess 1 and 2 • Brief interviews or urgent interviews need to be booked. • Notice of this procedure to be given in term 2

  10. University applications • All students receive UAC Guide late July early August • UAC applications open early August and close late September.

  11. UOW • Open Day 16th August • Early admission opens 1st August close 29th August • Links talks to ERC term 3 – information about this later

  13. Careers Expo • All Year 12 will be attending for one hour Wednesday 15th May. • Make sure you are prepared to ask questions that are important to YOU! • Public session for you and parents Tuesday 14th May 3.30-5.30pm

  19. STRESS MANAGEMENT • Enjoy you last year of schooling • Work steadily and to the best of your ability • If a problem – talk to your friends, family, seek help. • There is real help available at any time you need it.

  20. So you don’t know what you want to do? • That’s OK! • See the Careers Adviser – sooner rather than later. • You will get assistance in gathering information - to help deciding and setting goals, time management etc.

  21. ‘SOFT SKILLS’ ARE REALLY IMPORTANT • So called ‘soft skills’ like • Time management • Attitude • Willingness to learn. • Confidence • Communication skills • Self discipline etc • Can be the deciding factor in you getting a ‘go’!
