He had the second wife because he fell in love and also needed a legitimate male heir. He had the third wife because he still needed a male heir. He had the fourth wife because of diplomatic reasons. 7. Tudor Food • The Tudor people ate a lot of fresh food because there was no way of storing food to be eaten later. There was no such thing as freezers or fridges in the Tudor times People kept animals all year round and would kill them just before they needed to be eaten. This meant that the meat was always fresh. Click here to find out more about what they ate…

  8. Mary Rose The Mary Rose was King Henry VIII's favourite warship and he named the ship after his sister. The ship was built in 1509, the year Henry VIII came to the throne It is not known exactly what happened to cause the sinking of the ship, but one theory suggests that the crew fired the guns on one side of the ship and were turning the ship to fire the guns on the other side. Unfortunately, they failed to close the gun ports and a combination of this and the wind caused the ship to tilt, fill with water and sink.

  9. How did the Tudors dress? • Clothes were a means of displaying how wealthy a person was. Rich people could afford clothing made of fine wool, linen or silk. Their clothes were decorated with jewels and embroidered with gold thread.
