  3. VOLUME • The number of cubes that you just counted is called the VOLUMEof your box. • So, what do you think VOLUME means?

  4. VOLUME VOLUMEis the amount of liquid or solid that will FILLa3-Dimensional object! *Always measured in units cubed (u3)

  5. QUICK DEFINITION • 3-Dimensionalobjects are NOT FLAT. • They have 3 measurements: • Length • Width • Height

  6. RECTANGULAR PRISM • Today we found the volume of a 3-D object called a RECTANGULAR PRISM, which is a solid figure that has six faces that are all rectangles. Opposite faces are congruent and parallel.

  7. VOLUME OF A RECTANGULAR PRISM So, what if we wanted to find the volume of this classroom?

  8. FORMULA Luckily, we have a formula for that! Volume = length × width × height
