Enhancing Local Food Awareness in Kittiwake Coast

Kittiwake Economic Development Corporation launched the Buy Local Campaign in 2007 to promote locally produced food. Working with Zone 14 farmers, an inventory of local food products was created to raise awareness and increase local product purchases. The campaign expanded to restaurants in 2008, highlighting local products like produce, seafood, desserts, and wines. A Buy Local Suppliers Database was developed in 2009, including product lists and contact information. The outcomes showed success, with retailers reporting increased interest in local products and some initiating their own Buy Local campaigns.
