  1. CANADA AGRICULTURE

The placements are for large crop farms, some mixed beef and crop farms, so some equipment experience is a must. • We need 10 good applicants for this season • Trainee’s live with your host family on the farm, or in trailer on the property • Trainees should have at least two years of experience in farming in order to apply.  Practical experience in driving machinery is very important. 

  3. What you earn :$11.00 per hour for 45 hours a week.  Your host must take deductions of your cheque for taxes, and a small amount ($350) to pay for your food and lodging.  Inbound trainees will make approximately $1400 CAD (R14 000.00) per month in net pay.  You can apply to get the income tax back that was deducted from your paycheque when you leave Canada. • Usually 1 person per farm unless farms big then 2 – 3 • Overtime rate at $13.00 per hour • Trainee works 5 – 9 hrs per day starting 8am to 6pm with an hour off for lunch

  4. * DEPARTURE is in April, you have to attend an orientation on arrival first then go off to your host family • Visa could take 4 weeks or so • Trainees must be 18 – 30 years – RSA passports • Season April – November. • Orientation Dates are April 15-16, Saskatchewan, April 23-24, Manitoba, April 28-29 Alberta. If you miss all those, there is a mini-orientation at the Trainee Fun Weekend June 20-22 in Saskatchewan.

They fly into whatever airport is closest to the host, most typically, Regina (YQR), Saskatoon (YYZ), Edmonton (YEG) or Calgary (YYC). • Orientation - there is one in each of the provinces - Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. They go to the closest one, but sometimes they go to whatever the last one is if they haven't arrived in time to go to the closest one

  6. COSTS Application fee = R 7500,00 7 month placement = $ 840 (R8400,00) Ticket = R 16 000,00 Orientation = $250 (R2500,00) Insurance = $2perday = $450 (R4500,00) Visa fee = $360 (R3600,00) GRAND TOTAL: R 42 500,00

  7. WHATS NEXT • Complete the application form • Submit it along with : • Copy of passport • Copy of your Cv • 2 x work references (Doesn’t need to be paid experience)
