MATHEMATICS
This syllabus outlines key mathematical concepts covering whole numbers, the four operations, mental calculations, ordinal numbers, and geometry, including shapes and patterns. It emphasizes data analysis through picture graphs and nurtures mathematical skills such as comparison, sequencing, and problem-solving. Activity-based assessments and hands-on activities, like 'Fun With Stickers,' support learning. Formal assessments are structured into multiple-choice, open-ended questions, and mental sums to gauge competency. Parent involvement is encouraged for real-life math awareness.

How to help our students ? Remedial lessons : Who : Based on SA 1 results, pupils who do not do well will be required to come for extra lesson in Semester 2 When : On Tuesdays from 10.30 am to 11.30 am.
Parent-Support - Exposure to number bonds and 4 operations : Eg. Playing card games, use real objects to show 4 operations, articulate objects instead of abstract numbers for 4 operations, count in steps of 2, 3 and other multiplication tables
Parent-Support • Increase awareness of Math in real life : • Eg. At the supermarket, help children be aware of • prices and change received, mass of canned • food , drinks, estimated mass and length of • objects, etc. • Be aware of the shapes and patterns of things • around them.
Partnership with parents Math Workshop for P1 Parents : Day : Friday, 30 April 2010 Time : 4.00 pm to 6.30 pm Venue : School AVA Room 1 Price : $3
