  7. Why Self-Management? Hours Spent With Healthcare Professionals (Neurologist/ Movement Disorder Specialist)* Hours Spent Without Healthcare Professionals (Neurologist/ Movement Disorder Specialist)* • People with chronic diseases spend very limited time in direct contact with their Consultant/ Specialist • In order to have a good quality of life, TIFKAP(The Individual formerly know as Patient) or, where necessary ,their carer(s), must be able to manage their illness in the time when they are not directly supported by these healthcare professionals *Estimated hours based on experience of M4P team members with Parkinson’s – estimate of 10 hours per annum face to face contact
