  1. Title: World Cup Countries. Lesson Objective: To know where the countries competing in the world cup are. To develop our map skill.

  2. Starter: There are 32 countries competing in the world Cup: How many are MEDCs? How many are LEDCs? If you don’t know (which is fine), just think about its location in the world.......

  3. Task: Put a key on your map (MEDC and LEDC). Using the Atlas (they are old so be careful with them) you need to: Find the countries that are in the world cup. Decide if they are an MEDC or LEDC. Colour them the correct colour depending on your key.   4. Task: (write in full sentences) How many teams qualify from each continent? Which continent has most qualifying places? Which has least? Why do you think there are different numbers of qualifying places allocated to different continents?

  5. Green –countries qualified for the world cup Red – failed to qualify Purple – did not try to qualify Grey – Not a FIFA member.
