  4. FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is the largest city in French Flanders. It is the principal city of the Lille Métropole, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in France after those of Paris, Lyon and Marseille.

  5. FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is located in Northern France on the Deûle river, near the France-Belgium border. It is the capital of the Nord-Pas de Calais region.

  6. FRENCH CITIES - LILLE Lille is known for having mussels and chips, or “moules-frites”, as their traditional staple food. A while ago, a restaurant in Lille started throwing the mussel shells out into a pile. Funnily enough, this has started a tradition where the restaurants compete against each other to get the largest pile!

  9. FRENCH CITIES - REIMS Reims, a city in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France, lies 129 km northeast of Paris. Founded by the Gauls, it became a major city during the period of the Roman Empire.

  10. FRENCH CITIES - REIMS As well as being widely regarded as the champagne capital of the world, Reims is renowned for its Notre-Dame Cathedral which is one of the finest in Western Europe. Unfortunately, Reims suffered pretty seriously from bombings in World War One but still boasts amazing heritage. Here are some attractions in Reims:

  18. STRASBOURG

  19. FRENCH CITIES - STRASBOURG Strasbourg is the capital and principal city of the Alsace region in eastern France and is the official seat of the European Parliament. Located close to the border with Germany, it is the capital of the Bas-Rhindépartement.

  20. FRENCH CITIES - STRASBOURG Strasbourg is located close to the France-German border, and the region was originally German-speaking. This explains its German name.

  21. FRENCH CITIES - STRASBOURG Although being one of the most atmospherically polluted areas in France, Strasbourg is a very beautiful city. The Ill river’s waterside architecture is unrivalled.

  24. FRENCH CITIES - DIJON Dijon is a city in eastern France, and is the capital of the Côte-d'Or département and of the Burgundy region. Dijon began as a Roman settlement called Divio, located on the road from Lyon to Paris.

FRENCH CITIES - DIJON The city has the largest amount of buildings which are more than 300 years old and still standing, this make the old town centre very agreeable to walk around, for example the Rue de la Chouette and Verrerie are very charming, with half-timbered houses and narrow cobbled streets.

  27. FRENCH CITIES - DIJON Dijon’s mustard and cassis (black currant liqueur) are famous, and Dijon is also an important shipper of Burgundy wine. It is equally noteworthy for its art treasures.
