Large Scale Summative Assessment Assignment for Elementary Schools Due February 5

This assignment requires collaboration in pairs to analyze demographics and academic achievement across three selected elementary schools in the Denver Public Schools (DPS) system. Participants will gather information on student demographics, including ethnicity and socioeconomic status (SES), as well as academic performance as measured by state assessments (CSAP/TCAP). The analysis includes identifying student outcomes by grade level and disaggregating data for English Language Learners (ELLs) based on CELA scores. Relevant resources will be provided for accessing necessary data.

Work in pairs • Need 1 triad • Each pair will have 3 Elementary schools in DPS • Gather information on: • Demographics • Academic achievement in each schools vis-à-vis the current school performance frameworks (SPF, Colorado School Grades, and State) • Student outcomes as measure by CSAP/TCAP by grade and disaggregated for ELLs

  3. 2011-12 Demographic Make-up • Total # of students • Ethnic make-up • FRL – free or reduced priced lunch (SES) • This info can be found on DPS website: http://www.dpsk12.org/ • ELLs – NEP,LEP,FEP info found on our Blog “ELA Report with FEP LEP NEP counts” under Lab 1 • Based on CELA scores: NEP = 1; LEP = 2 & 3; FEP = 4 & 5
