  1. Golden Rules for Offense Speed Kills! 2 ways to attack with Speed 1) Skating 2) Passing Passing is FASTER than skating! Get the puck to the prime scoring area - The Slot! Most goals are scored from the slot Attack from the outside with speed through the “Scoring Door” We have more options when attacking from an angle Two players driving to the net – both through the “Scoring Door” Driving towards the backside post through the “Scoring Door” aligns you with an open net 3rd forward in zone creates the TRIANGLE formation Creates space and options Shots must hit the net! Shots that miss the net result in turn-overs Rebounds give us 2 shots on net versus 1 Rebounds More goals are scored on rebounds than direct shots

  2. Golden Rules for Offense Scoring Door: The space between the face-off dot and the top of circle Attacking through the “Scoring Door” puts you at the best angle to shoot on the goalie. Attacking through the “Scoring Door” forces the goalie to one side of the net, leaving the backside open. Attacking through the “Scoring Door” gives rebounds to the back side Attacking through the “Scoring Door” - 2nd guy to the net – aligns you with the rebound and the Open part of the net.

Off-sides kills our attack 2nd player to the blue line goes to the net through the weak-side “Scoring Door” Puck carrier and 2nd man in are both attacking through the “Scoring Doors” 3rd player to blue line completes the triangle Stop in front of the net! Shots must hit the net!

More goals are scored on rebounds than direct shots, do not skate past your opportunity to score! Shots must hit the net! 100% of the shots that miss the net do not score Shots that hit the goalie produce rebounds, our best chance to score

  5. Golden Rules for Offense Neutral Zone: 1. Move the puck through the center ice circle through the neutral zone This creates options (Left side or Right side) and creates space Pulls D to center of ice, opening up space for wings Forces D to defend the whole width of the ice 2. Attack from the wings with the puck, with speed!

  6. Golden Rules for Offense Attacking the Offensive Zone (priorities): 1. Gain the offensive Blue line Beat the defenseman Try to get through the “Scoring Door” Look for weak side wing going to net Look for Trailer Escape and look for late wing or defenseman Look to net

Golden Rules for Offense Attacking the Offensive Zone (priorities): Option #1: Beat Defenseman Gain the blue line Beat the defenseman Drive through Scoring Door Shoot on net 2nd player in zone (weak side wing) Drives through weak side Scoring Door and is in position to bang in rebound to open net!

Golden Rules for Offense Attacking the Offensive Zone (priorities): Option #2: Pass to Weak Side Wing Gain the blue line Beat defenseman Drive through Scoring Door Pass to weak side wing driving through weak side Scoring Door for shot into open net! *Weak side wing must drive through weak side Scoring Door for best angle to shoot into open net

Golden Rules for Offense Attacking the Offensive Zone (priorities): Option #3: Pass to Trailer Gain the blue line Defenseman steps from backward to forward Pass back to trailing center Center immediately drives to middle Center has 3 options Pass to weak side wing Pass back to strong side wing Shoot on net and crash for rebounds

Golden Rules for Offense Attacking the Offensive Zone (priorities): Option #4: Escape and pass to late wing or our defenseman Gain the blue line Defenseman pushes you below the Scoring Door Escape turn towards boards Look for pass to late wing or defenseman joining play in high slot *Important note, puck carrier must keep feet moving (cross-overs) coming out of power turn to create space from D
