Mongolian Industrial Classification • Mongolia used ISIC Rev.3 for its 1998 Establishment Census for the first time. • According to a joint Decree by Mongolian National Statistical Office Chairman and Finance and Economic Minister of Mongolia, the ISIC was updated by its Rev.3.1 in 2004. • Under the updated version, industrial statistics are produced at ISIC 4, 3, and 2 digit levels.

Users of ISIC • Ministry of Finance, • Ministry of Construction • Ministry of Education, Culture and Science, • Ministry of Roads, Transportation, and Tourism, • Bank of Mongolia, • Information Communication Technology Agency, • Other Ministries and their agencies • Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Implementation of International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC-4) • Translated ISIC -4 latest version in 2007 • Sent the translated version to 13 line ministries and agencies • Collected their comments • Updated Mongolian industrial classification • Converted ISIC-3.1 to ISIC-4 on Business Register Bangkok, Tailand, 2008

  8. In Mongolia the ‘Central Product Classification’ • History of Mongolian Product Classification • 2001 (based on CPC-1.0) • 2003 (based on CPC-1.1) • 2007 (based on CPC-2.0 Draft)

  9. 2001 (based on CPC-1.0) • Before applying this classification, it is customized to fit some specific characteristics of sectors in Mongolia and now the classification at 6 digit level has been used in main sectors such as industry, agriculture, construction, and trade.

  11. 2007 (based on draft CPC-2.0) • As classifying products of industry and agriculture sectors, as well as of input and output table, according to the central product classification, sometimes a problem has been faced to classify domestic products that made in Mongolia. Moreover, it is started that CPC Rev.2 version has been tested in Mongolia.
