  1. Frequent mistakes and problems in the implementation of learning outcomes Bastian Baumann - Slovenia - December 15th 2006

  2. General mistakes • LOs are not used at all as a concept • LOs are not used despite the believe that they are used • LOs are used but are implemented wrongly • Los are used but wrongly linked to other issues

  3. Not using LOs • Do I still need to comment on this?

  4. Thinking it is LOs • Often mixed up with learning aims • Using staff perspective rather than that of learners Opposite: • Not assessable LOs (long term)

  5. Wrong implementation • Just “translate“ content • No link to assessment • Using irrelevant LOs • Just using the Dublin descriptors • No actual change of curricula • Use of ECTS grades • Unrealistic LOs • Superficially using LOs

  6. ECTS on the surface

  7. ECTS on the ground

  8. Other issues to keep in mind • Recognition practices, esp. prior learning • Relation to ECTS • Inclusion in Diploma Supplement • Reflection of National QFs / EQF • Who is going to develop them? • Publication • LOs vs. programme outcomes

  9. One can make it better! Good luck! Thank you very much for your attention! bastian.baumann@gmail.com
