Rojo 5B. APUNTES. Ser = to be. Estar = to be. Yes, both SER and ESTAR mean “to be” ( am, is , and are ) But they are not interchangeable!!!! So, how do we know when to use each one???. When do we use “ESTAR”?.

  4. Yes, both SER and ESTAR mean “to be” (am, is, andare) But they are not interchangeable!!!! • So, how do we know when to use each one???

  5. When do we use “ESTAR”? • 1. To describe how someone is feeling (temporary characteristics) such as tired, sick, sad, happy, etc. • 2.To describe location such as beside, to the left of, in, etc.

  6. When do we use “SER”? • 1. Whenever you don’t use “ESTAR” (and you want to say “am, is, or are”) 

  7. A diddy: • How you feel and where you are, •  this is when you use estar

  8. Unacancion: • Twinkle twinkle verb estar • How you feel, where you are.
