  1. University of Alabama 21 Suggestions for SUCCESSby H. Jackson Brown, Jr. Lauren M. 2nd Period Health How do you define success?

  2. Find someone special to love. Don’t give away parts of yourself to many people, for when you find someone who is right there will be nothing left but an empty shell. The person you want to spend your life with should be your best friend; over time that will be more important than you now realize. • Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness or misery.

  3. Work at something you enjoy and that's worthy of your time and talent. Children and friends will come and go but your work will remain constant. Find something to do that will make a positive impact on your little corner of the world. “I am a music educator because it combines the two things I am passionate about; Teaching and crazy people. There is music in there somewhere I believe..” – Dr. Gregory

  4. Give people more than they expect and do itcheerfully Don’t let yourself wake up one day and realize that your life is almost over and you’ve never really helped any one else! Dr. Johnny Hunt - LOVELOUD

  5. A smile cost nothing and it doesn’t hurt you to smile at someone! Smile more often, you never know when someone might need one. • Become the most positive and enthusiastic person you know! “Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm”

  6. Be forgiving of yourself and others. “If You, O Lord, kept a record of sins…who could stand? But with You there is forgiveness.” Psalm 130 Piedod man Tēvs, es esmu grēkojis

  7. “Lose yourself in generousservice and every day can be a most unusual day, an abundantly rewarding day!” – William Arthur Ward • Be generous. Be generous! Don’t think twice about it. If you see a need that you can fill, then do it! Blessings come back from kindness ten-fold.

  8. He who receives all things with gratefulness shall be made glorious - Doctrine & Covenants 78:19 • Have a grateful heart ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ Be grateful for everything. Find something to give thanks to God for every single day! Even when it is raining, thank Him for the water! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

  9. Never. Ever. Give. Up. That’s all I got. Deep enough for you? -Coach Maxwell - Persistence Persistence Persistence - . There is no giant step that does it . . It’s . . a . . lot . . of . . little . . steps .

  10. Hope for the best yet prepare for the worst. • Discipline yourself to save money on even the most modest salary. Wealth can only be accumulated by the earnings of industry and the savings of frugality” - John Tyler Save even if you think you can’t. You never know when something bad could happen and you won’t have a chance to save again.

  11. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. - Golden Rule - Treat everyone you meet like you want to be treated. Do something nice for somebody else every day. I promise, you will not regret it.

  12. Good, better, best; never let it rest till your good is better and your better is best. - Unknown Commit yourself to constant improvement! You can always get better! Never think otherwise! You’d be amazed how a little bit of extra work pays off in the end!

  13. “Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” –Henry Ford Commit yourself to quality Always give your best, even if someone thinks it isn’t good enough. Pride in knowing you did the best that you could is better than reaching someone else's standards.

  14. Understand that happiness is not based on possessions, power or prestige, but on relationships with people you love & respect. Most people are about as happy as they make up their minds to be -Abraham Lincoln Make a conscious decision to be happy, make it a goal, and just do it! Nobody can make you feel bad without you letting them. Be positive and remember one thing- Smile!

  15. “The greater the loyalty of a group toward the group, the greater is the motivation among the members to achieve the goals of the group, and the greater the probability that the group will achieve its goals.” - Rensis Likert Be loyal Marines and DCI – You’ll never find more personal loyalty towards a group. Except maybe crazy football fans..

  16. Always be truthful, even if it will get you in trouble! Never ever compromise your integrity! You’ll always regret it later on! Be honest! Oh, what a tangled web we weave,When first we practice to deceive!~ William Shakespeare

  17. Sometimes you just have to supply your own initiative and inspiration. Do something and do it because you want to. Be a self-starter. "Success seems to be connected with action. Successful people keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit.” –Conrad Hilton

  18. Decisiveness is a two-faced coin. -Make your decision and be steadfast. Don’t go back and forth on your choice. -But always be able to see reason and to be able to admit you were wrong Be decisive even if it means you'll sometimes be wrong. "Be willing to make decisions. Don't fall victim to what I call the ready-aim-aim-aim-aim syndrome. You must be willing to fire.“ -T. Boone Pickens

  19. Stop blaming others. Take responsibility for every area of your life. The man who complains most about the way the ball bounces is likely to be the one who dropped it.“ -Lou Holtz Responsibility is hard to have sometimes, especially when you have to take the blame for a mistake or something bad, but it makes you a better person if you own up for your own actions. Nobody can live your life for you, so you’re in control, for better or for worse.

  20. Be bold and courageous. When you look back on your life, you'll regret the things you didn't do more than the ones you did.      “The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing, is nothing, and becomes nothing. He may avoid suffering and sorrow, but he simply cannot learn and feel and change and grow and love and live.” -Leo F. Buscaglia It is easier to get forgiveness, rather than permission. Especially in matters that count, but don’t abuse it either.

  21. Family. Best friends. Even people you just know and aren’t too great of friends with. Everyone is out there to help you if you need it, but be kind to them in return. Always stick with your friends through their hard times, because one day you’ll need them most, and you’ll want them to be there for you too. And when there's nothing left, your family will always be there. Take good care of those you love. To us, family means putting your arms around each other and being there.  ~Barbara Bush

  22. Nothing feels worse than disappointing your Mommy.. & no matter what she says, she’ll always love you no matter what. Don't do anything that wouldn't make your Momma proud. The heart of a mother is a deep abyss at the bottom of which you will always find forgiveness.  ~Honoré de Balzac
