  2. Glen Wakeman worked with GE Money for more than twenty years and was the chief executive officer (CEO) of operations in nine countries in Latin America. In 2006, he became the CEO of Doral Financial Corporation and worked to recapitalize the company.

  3. Mr. Wakeman understands what it takes to obtain an executive position. He is an entrepreneur as well and has created companies that provide resources to early stage entrepreneurs and growth-oriented CEOs. “Whether you’re already a CEO or you’re trying to get into an executive position, it’s always helpful to look at others who have succeeded,” says Mr. Wakeman.

  4. Becoming an executive requires time, skill, knowledge, and most importantly, leadership. CEOs are responsible for overseeing operations, communicating with employees, and providing a positive example. In Mr. Wakeman’s experience, he has learned that an executive should have a working knowledge of every aspect of his or her business.

  5. Mr. Wakeman says that executives do not need to become an expert in every field, however, they should have a working knowledge of each department’s operations. Professionals who are interested in becoming executives should work on their communication and delegation skills in order to become great leaders as well. As a successful CEO, Glen Wakeman knows what it takes to reach a high level executive position.
