Considering your own definition, do you agree or disagree with the following quotes: “Happiness cannot be pursued; it must ensue.” – Viktor Frankl{we can’t search for (pursue) happiness; it must come to us} “You’re not going to find the meaning of life hidden under a rock, written by someone else. You’ll only find it by giving meaning to life from inside yourself.” – Dr. Robert Firestone Share your opinions with the class.

Read Silently Go to page 225 in the book (Taking Happiness Seriously) and read the section until the end on page 227. • According to Seligman, where does our happiness come from? • What contributes to our happiness? • According to the research, what doesn’t matter for our happiness? Do you agree? • What is a “calling”? Do you think you have one? Does everyone in life follow their calling – why or why not?

  4. Try These Activities • Take the 20-10 Test (p. 237) • But Out (p. 238) What do you think: Why would this aptitude (discovering meaning) be an important aptitude to develop for the future?
