The future with ‘aller’ = The Near Future • Remember you can talk about the near future using ‘aller’ + infinitive • Je vais • Tu vas • Il va / Elle va • Nous allons • Vous allez • Ils vont / Elles vont • Exemples: • Je vais travailler en France • Tu vas sortir ce soir • Remember – the infinitive ends in “er”, it does not end in “é”!

  3. Other (implied) near future expressions: • The same also works with verbs like: • penser + infinitive • Je pense aller à la fac après le lycée. • espérer + infinitive • J’espère me marier jeune. • compter + infinitive • Dans 5 ans, je compte avoir un bon travail. • vouloir + infinitive • Je veux sortir demain.

  4. Le futur simple - Use the future tense to describe a more distant, but definite future. I WILL... - The future tense of regular verbs is formed by taking the infinitive of the verb and adding the endings (which are basically from the verb avoir): ai as a avons avez ont For –re verbs the final –e is dropped before the endings are added for pronunciation reasons. Ex: vendre > vendre >tuvendras (You will sell) Examples: manger > je mangerai (I will eat) choisir > nous choisirons (We will choose) prendre > ilsprendront (They will get)

  5. Le futur simple (les verbesirréguliers) -For irregular verbs in the future tense, learn the stem (see activity below) and then add the usual endings. Activity -Copy the future stem from the box below and write them next to the appropriate infinitives. Dansvingtsans je comptehabiter en Ecosse car j’adore les montagnes et le style de vie écossaise. J’habiterai avec moncopain.
