  4. Where does IQAP fit ? • Part of the ‘Technology Office’ (TO) within the National Programme for IT (NPfIT) • Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer • Governed by the IQAP/IG Board

IQAP Objectives • Promote the importance of data quality issues with all stakeholder groups • Help improve quality on NHSCRS systems • Ensure that DH policy, covering data quality standards, is understood by all LSPs • Work in collaboration, offering expert advice and direct support to NPfIT systems designers • Ensure effective communications to all IQAP stakeholders • Implement metrics and report on data quality improvements linked to IQAP initiatives

Meeting Objectives • Development & delivery of data quality standards • Development and delivery of expert guidance for data quality management • Management and delivery of Data Quality improvements within the NHSCRS systems including ex NHSIA systems • Advice and support to systems design effort • Development and delivery of all communication material and messages relating to data quality to stakeholders • Assurance of IQAP Policy and Guidance is being adhered to and that there is a drive for continued data quality improvement

Communication Objectives • Ensure stakeholders understand the implications of Data Quality which each programme or software release will deliver; • Provide clear information, via appropriate channels, explaining the Data Quality processes to ensure data integrity amongst NHS staff operating the systems and LPSs who are implementing the systems; • Manage incoming questions raised about data quality and share them with appropriate audiences; • Disseminate good news and progress milestones with reference to Data Quality, to stakeholders, in order to maintain and enhance the reputations of the NPfIT and IQAP; and • To create confidence through professional, cohesive messages about the aims, plans and benefits of the Programme to the wider NHS.
