  3. What is Standardized Testing? We use standardized testing to maximize fairness and provide meaningful comparisons.

  4. What is the purpose of CEPA? • #1 • Identify students’ levels • Place students in appropriate programs • Place students in appropriate levels • #2 • Track the progress of the nation

  5. What can go wrong? • A student’s score could go missing. • Lost or damaged answer sheet • Computer failure • A student could receive the wrong score. • Poor exam conditions • Cheating • Wrong ID number • Wrong Version

  6. How does this affect the student? • Missing Score • Repeat the test= Added stress, wasted time • Wrong Score • Wrong Level • Too low= Wasted time • Too high= Frustration, failure, inability to understand post-foundation classes, drop-out

  7. How does this affect the rest of us? • Institutions • Retests require more work • Classes are mixed ability • Inaccurately placed students drop out • The Nation • Inaccurate data about the state of education • Wasted money on students who cannot succeed • Citizens become frustrated with the higher education process

  9. I forgot my ID! • No ID = No Exam • Students must present ID at registration. • No students may pass registration without ID. • No IDs brought after registration closes will be considered. • No students may begin the test late. • Staff should not contact parents.

  13. What’s different? Look at the forms in the back of the Site Supervisors’ Manual. • Misconduct Report has only room for one student • Nonaccommodated students are now Deferred Students • No Help Desk report • Return Supplies List streamlined • New Proctor and Staff lists
