  2. About Me • Brock University Senator • Former Vice Chair of the BUSAC Environmental and Accessibility Committee • Currently sitting on the City of Port Colborne’s Environmental Advisory Committee

  3. My Idea – Why Solar Energy Installing Solar Panels on the roof of the Student Alumni Center • BUSU has the resources we need • We can do everything on site • Provide leadership to the University to follow suit

  4. Solar Energy – Isn’t That Expensive? • Yes • …BUT! • Because of the Ontario FIT program, BUSU would actually profit roughly 20% above what the initial investment is. Government Guarenteed

  5. What About Equipment? • There are several local solar panel manufacturers that have the expertise and equipment to make this a reality • Canary Solar Niagara • Niagara Wind & Solar • Niagara Solar Energy • Niagara Windpower Inc. • Investing in the local economy and having a competitive contract will give Brock Students the best quality for their money

  6. Recap • Use BUSU’s existing roof space to install a solar panel array to connect to the grid • Make back investment +20% over 20 year period • Investing in the local economy to better Niagara as a whole • Become an example to Brock and others in the area that Green is Good to Go!
