  1. TOPDRESSING OF BERMUDA TURF WHAT IS IT? Topdressing is the practice by which a thin layer of organic sand is applied to an established turf or new turf planting. WHY DO IT? Topdressing is done to smooth irregularities on the turf surface that result from high traffic, turftgrass growth or slight grading irregularities. WHEN DO IT NEED TO DO THIS? Topdressing should be done once the new turf growth is well established for the season. It should not be done nearer to the end of the growing season because the new growth needs time to adapt to the topdressing. HOW OFTEN SHOULD I DO THIS? Topdressing can be done once a year until the irregularities have been solved. HOW DO I KNOW IF MY LAWN NEEDS TOPDRESSING?
