  1. 1. Calculate the distance the wave travels in 3 minuteif the velocity is 9 m/s and the wavelength is 6 m.

  2. 2. 10 pulses are generated every 0.25 s in a tank of water. What is the speed of propagation of the wave if the wavelength of the surface wave is 37 cm? What is the period of the wave?

  3. 3. Two boats are anchored 4 meters apart. They bob up and down, returning to the same up position every 10 seconds. When one is up the other is down. There are never any wave crests between the boats. Calculate the speed of the waves.

  4. Break up into groups. Everyone with their own paper. Answer the following questions or respond to the statements. Diagram a sound wave (lots of dots). What is an echo? Explain the doppler effect. What happens to wavelength as frequency changes? What does the velocity of a wave depend on? Describe a reflection with a loose end verses a fixed end? What is the difference in constructive interference and destructive interference? Define: Conduction, Radiation, and Convection.
