  2. I must go to the server room…

  3. THE SERVER ROOM

  4. KVM RACKS BLADE SERVERS UPS UNITS BACKUP DRIVES AND STORAGE POWER AND ETHERNET

  5. IT’S DANGEROUS TO GO ALONE! RUN BACKUPS. I WILL BRING THE OFFSITE BACKUPS TO A SAFE PLACE.

  6. Gotta bring these backups somewhere that Ganon won’t find them.

  7. Oi, Link! What’re you doing today? Just running my weekly server backups.

  8. Got time to tell me a little about servers? Sure…

  9. WHAT IS A SERVER? WHAT RUNS ON A SERVER? TYPES OF SERVERS? FILE, PRINT, VIRTUAL, WEB, APPLICATION, SHAREPOINT, ETC… WINDOWS, MAC, LINUX TEXT OR GUI LINK’S SERVER CLASS

  10. Moving on…

  11. Ah! I forgot to set up that virtual server…I better get to that ASAP.

  12. Here are the backups.

  13. THANKS. SURE. STEP INSIDE… Can I manage my Virtual server here?

  14. Excellent. Thanks to modern networking, I can remotely manage my virtual server even though I’m not at the office.

  15. Let’s talk about setting up BA-KARI-SRV. First, we have to log onto the physical server that hosts the VM.

  16. After creating a machine in VMWare, you have to choose the hardware specs, storage options and location, setup networking, etc.

  17. Now to install Windows… Installing Windows Server 2012 is not unlike installing Windows 8…or 7…or Vista…or XP! We will use a virtual disk drive to read our ISO of Server 2012 and “boot from the disk.”

  18. Computer object has to be made in the active directory, then it can be put in the LSU domain. We need this to allow users to log on.

  19. Next, we need to allow remote desktop for Kari to be able to configure the machine without having to log onto the host, first. Then we set her admin credentials. Then we take a snapshot…our work here is done.

  20. I’m tired. I’m going to go home and answer email and act like I’m working.

  21. END.
