OUR SCHEDULE 2019-2020 Class Schedule: • 7:05 – 7:25 E & E • 7:25 - 8:00 Homeroom / Attendance • Breakfast in the classroom/ 7:45-7:55 Morning Meeting • 8:00 - 8:45 Reading • 8:45 - 9:30Writing • 9:30 - 10:00 Bridge Time • 10:00 - 11:00Math • 11:10 - 11:50Lunch / Health -- Per classroom • 11:55 - 2:20 Recess • 12:20 - 12:35 Shared Read Aloud • 12:35 - 1:25 Science / Social Studies • 1:30 - 2:20 Related Arts • 2:20 Dismissal

  3. AGENDAS: • Assignments, upcoming assessments, and general information are posted on the front of the board, visible for all to see. • Students are given time to copy assignments and pack up each day. • Students are responsible for getting their assignments down in the allotted time given.

  4. READING As part of the fourth grade reading program, students are required to read a minimum of 20 minutes a day, four days a week. Students are not required to read over the weekend although it is encouraged.

  5. NOTEBOOKS AND FOLDERS: • Organizing notebooks/binders will be done during the first week of school. Please do not “clean out” your child’s notebook at any point of the year.This will not be a valid excuse if your child is unprepared for class. We will clean out notebooks as needed in class. Please help your child keep papers organized in the appropriate location.

  6. PARENT /TEACHER COMMUNICATION • My planning period is between 1:30 - 2:20. • During this time I am available for scheduled conferences if another meeting is not previously planned. This is also my time to check e-mails. • Email is the best way to communicate on a day to day basis. • A weekly newsletter will be emailed home each Friday or Monday.

  7. WEDNESDAY FOLDER • Each Wednesday a folder will come home with important information to be reviewed. • The folder should be SIGNED & RETURNED to school on Thursday. • Please keep all papers at home unless there is something that needs to be sent back to school. • If you need to discuss a grade, please keep that particular assignment so we can reference it.

  8. RECESS AND LUNCH: Our scheduled recess is 11:55 - 12:20. Children may bring a healthy, easy-to-eat, hand-held snack for the morning. Water only if your child brings a water bottle.

  9. GRADING SCALE: • A = 90-100 • B = 80-89 • C = 70-79 • D = 60-69 • F = 0 - 59

  10. GRADING * This is the FMSD grading policy: • Classwork 25 % • Quiz 50 % • Test 100 % • Projects 200 %

  11. PARENT PORTAL • Please make sure you know your login. This is a great way to keep track of your students grades. • If you do not know how to log in to parent portal, please see Michelle England in the office. • Grades will be put in the computer no later than 2 weeks after grade is given.

BIRTHDAYS • If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday you may send individual STORE BOUGHT item of your choice (please only send ONE item per student) • This item will only be able to be distributed during your child’s LUNCH TIME. • All Items must be peanut, tree nut free, and must be labeled so on the package. They must be approved by the front office. • Please inform your teacher in advance if you will be sending in a birthday treat.

  14. MONTHLY HOMEWORK/BEHAVIOR CLUB: In order to participate, students must complete ALL homework assignments in all subject areas. We allow one "oops" (late homework assignment) per month. Behavior qualifications are described on the next slide.

  15. Behavioral Expectations We will follow SPORT Guidelines for Behavior. • S-Safety (conduct yourself in a way that is safe for others and you) • P-Property (use school & personal property respectfully and safely) • O-Order (conduct yourself in an orderly manner) • R-Respect (be respectful to others and yourself) • T-Task (Stay on task, refrain from distracting others) At the end of each month, the students who followed the SPORTs rules will be rewarded with extra recess and a treat. Students who receive 3 strikes for not following the SPORTs rules will not be rewarded and will remain in class.

  16. TENTATIVE FIELD TRIPS • Old Salem(this is an extended day trip) -- Thursday, October 24th • Greenway History in a Backpack • Discovery Place

  17. TRANSPORTATION CHANGE • If your child is going to have a transportation change, a form needs to be filled out and be turned in to your child’s homeroom teacher. • If an EMERGENCY/ change occurs during the day please EMAIL THE OFFICE—DO NOT EMAIL THE CHILD’S TEACHER due to teaching.
