  2. Preface Dear Hiring and Recruiting, Working in the Financial Services industry has been my personal career goal for many years. This goal motivated me to graduate Cum Laude from CSU Monterey Bay. My interest in the industry began while working for Wells Fargo Bank where I had an opportunity to shadow our branch’s Financial Advisor.   3. Preface (cont’d) Recently, I held a position at Thrivent Financial for Lutherans as a Financial Representative. A family friend, who works for Thrivent, heard that I was interested in Financial Advising and had encouraged me to apply for a position. A few months later, I was hired with the company and due to discipline and hours of studying, I passed the exams. Throughout my college years I was working at the Holiday Inn Express (HIE) learning skills necessary to becoming an asset to Thrivent’s team. I began as a Guest Service Representative; however, my supervisors noticed my ability to lead our team and as a result, I was promoted to Director of Sales. With this promotion came more responsibility. As Director of Sales, I have provided numerous groups with accommodations, exceeded my prospective and outside sales calls goals, and implemented a new, profitable promotion known as the Diver’s Discount.   4. Preface (cont’d) To work efficiently and as a part of a team, I believe that one must possess excellent listening and interpersonal communication skills. Working as a Financial Representative and as the Director of Sales, I am and have been communicating with new and existing clients daily and not just hearing what they say, but actually listening to what they mean. For many prospective clients and groups, I was the first person they came in contact with and would base their opinion of our company on our phone conversations alone. These skills have led me to become successful as a team member, Advisor, and as a person.
