  11. UNDERGARMENTS • Wear issue type • 100% cotton • 100% wool • NOMEX material

  12. Newest Flight Approved Uniform Aviation ACU • Two piece Nomex uniform • Worn with same patches as the ACU • Same flight gloves and jackets • Only wear authorized boots

  13. NOMEX CHARACTERISTICS • Does not support combustion • Chars between 700 and 800 degrees F. • Does not melt or drip • Good chemical resistance • More durable than cotton • Low thermal conduction • Comfortable to wear

  31. CARE OF THE NOMEX FLIGHT SUIT • Avoid unnecessary wear during ground duties • Avoid contact with POL products • Wash on a permanent press cycle • DO NOT BLEACH or STARCH

  32. CARE OF THE NOMEX FLIGHT SUIT • Better to hang dry • Wash and dry at temps less than 180 ° • Dry clean if necessary • NOMEX may be ironed but do not iron the Velcro tabs

  33. CARE OF NOMEX FLIGHT GLOVES • Avoid unnecessary contact with POL products (preflight) • Wash gloves with mild soap • Dry at room temp, in well ventilated area NEVER place leather palms in direct heat
