Who discovered carbon? • The answer to this question would be no one really knew who discovered carbon, but in the late 18th century Antoine Lavoisier discovered that diamonds were made from carbon, and René Antoine Ferchault de Réaumur discovered how to make steel using a mixture of Iron and carbon.

  9. Is carbon a solid, liquid, or gas at room temperature? • At room temperature (25 C), carbon is a solid. Carbon has the highest melting point of all the elements.Melting Point: 3823 K (3550°C or 6422°F). Boiling Point: 4098 K (3825°C or 6917°F).

What types of isotopes does carbon have? • Carbon has three naturally occuring isotopes: C-12 (98.89%), C-13 (1.11%), and C-14 (about 1 part per trillion).C-14 is not stable, and decays by emitting an electron (beta minus decay) into N-14, with a half-life of 5730 years.There have been fifteen total isotopes of carbon observed, with mass numbers ranging from 8 to 22 inclusive.
