  16. I start each class with five minutes of talking about.. Ex; news, sport, current events, etc. • I use index card in the first day of the class and have each student write: name, phone, - then I use the card for taking attendance and some note about them • Write on the board the class agenda activities for that day • When student are scared of your subject, distract them by saying something that – fun - silly humor

  17. Be excited about your discipline – show your passion about your profession • Be prepared – • After the first exam have your student complete the following sentence: “I could have done better on this exam if _____ • Call your students by their name frequently • Have students exchange phone numbers

  18. Assign group activities and assign specific roles (team leader) • Create energy, move around, show enthusiasm • Incorporate videos, music or others • Use short-term case study • Break the lecture into meaningful short segment • Establish a collection of cartoons and use them to make a point

  19. From time to time videotape yourself as you lecture and see yourself as others see you • Ask student, at the end of the class, write about: “what part of the lecture/learning activity was fuzzy” • Establish the practice of having students give short oral summaries of …. That is related to the study • Let students teach each other • Ask open-ended questions to motivate thoughtful answers

  20. Question, Pause, call name for answer – • After the student answer the question – ask other student if they agree why - why not • Ask question that has neither right nor wrong answers • Make sure to give feedback that is informative and explicit “good” is not enough • Start feedback with something positive - • Do not ignore a wrong answer
