  2. Adjectives • Adjectives agree in gender and number with the persons or things they describe. • Masculine adjectives usually end in –o and feminine adjectives usually end in –a. • Una estatua moderna • Un cuadro moderno

  3. Adjectives • Adjectives that end in –e or in a consonant may be either feminine or masculine. • Un cuadro interesante • Una estatua gris

  4. Adjectives • Adjectives that end in –ista may be either masculine or feminine. • Un dibujo realista • Una pintora surrealista

  5. Adjectives • To form the feminine form of adjectives that end in -or, add –a at the end. • Un niño trabajador • Una niña trabajadora

  6. Adjectives • If an adjective describes a combination of masculine and feminine nouns, the masculine plural ending is used. • Ese cuadro y esa estatua no son feos.

  7. Comparisons • To express a comparison of similarity, use tan+ adjective + como. • El cuadro de Picasso es tan bonito como el cuadro de Velázquez.

  8. Comparisons • To express a comparison of difference, use más / menos + adjective + que. • El cuadro de Picasso me parece más / menosinteresante que el de Velázquez.

  9. Comparisons • The adjectives bueno(a), malo(a), viejo(a), and joven have irregular comparative forms. • The words más / menos are not used. • bueno(a) • malo(a) • viejo(a) • joven mejor (que) peor (que) mayor (que) menor (que)
